This article is designed to give a detailed description of medical English from a genre analysis perspective. First, the relevance of medical communication and the significance of genre to account for communicative events in this discipline are presented. Different medical genres are then described in detail in terms of their language use and macrostructural patterns. The rhetorical structure of review articles, research articles, and case reports, among the written medical genres, is analyzed.

Resum: El catàleg titulat Lletraferides modernes. Catàleg de les escriptores valencianes dels segles XVI-XVIII (Herrero 2009) suposava un punt de partida en la compilació de «lletraferides» valencianes de l’Edat Moderna. Aquest ajudà a rescatar els seus noms, però el major handicap radica en la diversitat en la localització física dels textos. Eiropas Parlaments (EP) ir viena no svarīgākajām lēmējinstitūcijām Eiropas Savienībā. EP plenārsēdēs pieņemtie lēmumi tiek īsi apkopoti preses relīzēs. Šī pētījuma mērķis ir veikt stilistisko analīzi EP preses relīzēm par mazo uzņēmējdarbību, tā kā tai ir īpaši svarīga loma ekonomikā. Galvenās pētniecības metodes ir žanra analīze un stilistiskā analīze. Šis pētījums atklāj EP preses relīžu tipiskās leksiskās, gramatiskās un figurālās iezīmes un definē preses relīzes kā žanru. Tiek secināts, ka EP preses relīžu teikumi ir gari un pakārtoti, un tajos ir ievērojams skaits īpašvārdu, klasificējošo īpašības vārdu, viena vārda leksisko darbības vārdu, abreviatūru un metonīmiju.

The purpose of this study is to describe the genre of an expository history essay. The data consist of 52 document-based essays that were written as a part of a history exam at a Finnish general upper secondary school. In this article, I analyse the functional structure of these essays using genre-theoretical move-analysis in a framework of genre theories and disciplinary literacies. Three different moves and six steps were found. The communicative functions of these structural elements were to contextualize the historical content of the essays, to analyse historical documents, and to use the analysis for supporting the chosen argument. Projektu vadība ir iefiltrējusies daudzās biznesa jomās, tomēr projektu pārskats kā žanrs nav bijis pilnvērtīgi izpētīts. Šī pētījuma mērķis bija izpētīt projektu pārskatu žanru veicot retorisko posmu un soļu analīzi un apskatot laika aspektu formas katrā retoriskajā posmā. Lai sasniegtu izvirzīto mērķi, tika veikta žanra analīze korpusam, kurš sastāvēja no 50 nejauši izvēlētiem projektu pārskatiem no Kopienas Pētniecības un attīstības informācijas dienesta (Community Research and Development Informative Service) (CORDIS) datubāzes. Mūsdienās reklāmraksti tiek izmantoti kā reklamēšanas veids, tiem ir īpaša struktūra un specifiskas iezīmes, kuru mērķis ir pārliecināt lasītājus iegādāties preci vai pakalpojumu. Izmantojot žanra analīzi, tika analizēta reklāmrakstu teksta struktūra. Teksta iekšējās iezīmes un pragmatiskās iezīmes arī tika izpētītas. Analīzes rezultāti atklāja, ka reklāmas funkcija tiek realizēta ar teksta struktūru, kas lielā mērā ir līdzīga reklāmu struktūrai.
